In the first nine (9) months of 2011, the firm settled one-hundred twenty five (125) personal injury cases for more than seven million dollars. While the firm’s average case settled for $55,000.00, within the last two (2) months alone, the firm settled cases for $650,000.00, $450,000.00, $375,000.00 and $230,000.00.

 In September, less than one (1) month after it was retained, the firm settled a case for $97,500.00. As a result, the happy client received his settlement check less than forty (40) days after he first walked into the firm’s Dover office.

In late September, during a two week jury trial in Sussex County, after the firm’s Managing Partner cross-examined the Defendant’s engineer, the trial judge admonished the witness in open Court and referred the witness’ testimony to the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office for a perjury investigation. (Yes, that was one of the cases that resulted in a significant settlement.)

In October, the Appellate Division ruled in the firm’s favor in a ski injury case that made new law in the State. In light of the Court’s ruling, the Plaintiff’s burden of proof was reduced (from a recklessness standard to a negligence standard.) As such, the Plaintiff now has a much better chance to prevail in trial and there is also a greater likelihood that the case will settle.
